Those who participated in the emotional celebration of Monteith's life included Glee cast and crew, writers and producers, Fox execs, close friends and family of the late actor. Some of Michele's close friends also flew in for it to support her and to remember Monteith. There were about 160 people at the memorial, which took place at Paramount studios where Glee films, and everyone wore black ribbons in honor of Cory.
Yesterday, Fox said in a statement to E! News, "Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith. We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time."
Monteith was found dead at age 31 in a Vancouver hotel room on July 13. Autopsy and toxicity results showed that the actor died of a drug overdose with heroin and alcohol found in his body. Monteith's last public appearance was with Michele on June 8 when Monteith walked his first red carpet since leaving rehab. Monteith, who first entered rehab at 19, had a long history of substance abuse.
