Mariam Musa Has Launched The Ultimate Most Affordable Brush Range

October 2024 · 4 minute read

Content creator, podcast host, and one of the most prolific beauty gurus in the UK beauty scene Mariam Musa has recently launched her brand – MIMA – much to her fans' delight. Mariam, 27, began her career on YouTube in 2015 and has since racked up over almost one million subscribers across her social media platforms (a number that is likely to skyrocket thanks to her new role as the proud co-host of BBC Radio 1Xtra "Pressed" podcast). Here, Mariam speaks on all things makeup, entrepreneurship, and inclusivity.

“Makeup should be accessible to all”

Mariam's desire to finally create a beauty brand of her own came from the yearning to help people everywhere have the opportunity to feel glamorous and to pamper themselves without having to break the bank. “I wanted to create a brand that showcased high-quality items without the hefty price tag to come with it. I am all about affordability as I myself never grew up with a lot. Makeup really is a safe haven for me that gives me so much joy and it has allowed me to showcase my creativity,” she says.

“I haven't always felt accepted in my industry”

Talking about her vision for MIMA Mariam says: “I wanted to create a brand that caters to all. From people just starting up on their makeup skills to the professionals. As a black beauty influencer that hasn’t always felt accepted or felt enough in my industry, the vision will always be to not only ensure MIMA stays consistent with trends but takes everyone along on that journey through the trends.”

Makeup brushes made easy

MIMA is launching with an ‘Essential 12-Piece Brush Collection’ that we’re obsessing over. Here is why you might need to add them to your basket.

So here is MIMA’s ultimate brush guide according to beauty guru Mariam Musa:

Angled Brow Brush

“Use this brush to conceal and neaten your eyebrows. It’s a very good precision brush with a strong grip so it’s effortless when tracing your eyebrows.”

Detailing Brush

“This brush is used for the finer details around the eyes. Amazing for shimmer shades on the eyelids and blending/smudging brush for under the waterline & cut crease.”

Flat Concealer Brush

“Perfect for concealer to hide any little spots and blemishes. It can also be used to apply foundation to your face before using your 12 brushes to blend it.”

Blending Eyeshadow Brush

“Blend like no other using this tool for your eyeshadow. Because of the thickness of this brush, it gives you room to blend from the eyelid to brow space. She’s large and in charge!”
