The main road entrance to Kettering General Hospital is permanently changing from today, as part of the Trust's plans to improve car parking and traffic flow.
The current main entrance - opposite Simply Gym on Rothwell Road - will become an emergency services only red route.
All traffic will instead enter and leave the main KGH site from the Telford Way/Rothwell Road roundabout via Haweswater Road and the internal KGH road.
To enable the changes to emergency services red route (red tarmacking) there will be roadworks on Rothwell Road with a single carriage way - controlled by traffic lights - on today and tomorrow, which could lead to delays.
Kettering General Hospital's Deputy Director of Facilities and Estates, Craig Catterick, said: "We want to inform local people that the next stage of our plans to improve car parking and traffic flow on the KGH site are about to happen.
"From February 20 all traffic will be enter and leave the main site via the new Telford Way roundabout entrance.
"In order to put red tarmac down onto the emergency red route at entrance 2 there will also be roadworks on the main Rothwell Road. This will involve Rothwell Road becoming single lane traffic - controlled by traffic lights - opposite entrance 2.
"Works should take two days and afterwards this entrance will only be available to emergency services. This is to ensure that emergency vehicles can access our key departments without delay."
Kettering General Hospital transport project manager John Pratt said: "Putting in the new access arrangements are an important precursor to us carrying out the more major changes we are planning to car parking on site.
"These include putting in a deck on car park B creating 240 additional spaces and expanding the number of disabled and short stay spaces in car park A.
"When all of the work is complete we expect the new arrangements to greatly improve car parking and traffic flow on site. Clearly we need to carry out the appropriate works to enable this to happen.
"We would like to apologise to all local people who may be inconvenienced by the current set of works.
"New signage on how to access the site will be in place to mark the changes and we are sure local people will very quickly become conversant with the new arrangements."
